Education and Outreach

Inspiring Future Scientists and Engineers:  Can the Challenger Society help you deliver outreach?

To facilitate the delivery of marine science, engineering and technology outreach to schools and sixth form/Further Education (FE) colleges, the Challenger Society is planning to team up with an organisation called TeenTech (for a description and requirements of TeenTech events, please see page 6 of the May 2016 edition of Challenger Wave or click the link to TeenTech in the menu to the left).  With their help, we are keen to explore ways in which we can work with you, the marine science community, to help you deliver outreach and/or deliver it on your behalf. This is not only a very valuable and rewarding exercise in itself, but could be quite an attractive addition to a research proposal, endorsed and facilitated by the Challenger Society. As such, we are really keen to, first of all, gather information on what resources and activities have already been developed in the community so please do contact us with this information and/or any ideas you are keen to follow up (contacts below).

A call to you for Activities and Resources

outreachTo participate in these (and other outreach) events, it would be very useful to know what resources and activities have already been developed in the marine science community, including in technology and engineering.  We can then investigate how best Challenger Society can work with you, perhaps in your region, to help deliver the activities, thus promoting your science and inspiring youngsters at the same time.
This is a very valuable and rewarding exercise in itself, and could also be an attractive addition to a research proposal, endorsed and facilitated by the Challenger Society.

We are also particularly interested in promoting the role of women in science, technology and engineering.

So please do contact me with details of your activities and/or ideas.

Also if you are keen to get involved generally, in outreach/education with the Challenger Society, do let me know.
